  • HI there, Hoping someone can help me find some info and possibly an approximate value for 2 Wembley vases my mother inherited when my grandmother passed away.

I have searched ebay and the internet high and low for some time now and can’t find anything. It appears the pictures on the vases are transfers? They both measure approx 22cm high. The first has a picture of a cute grey kitten and a duckling looking down at their reflection into a hand mirror, the background is in brown and cream tones. The second one has a peach and yellow background and has a picture of Mother duck in a blue bonnet pushing baby duck along in her blue “carriage”, the duckling is wearing a red and white striped beanie with a white pom pom.

I don’t know how to attach a picture here, but can email some to you if that helps. Thanking you in anticipation :)

    Kind Regards,
    Fina

    • Hi Fina – thanks for the photo’s.
We are unable to give you an estimate as we have never seen this design before.
We have a meeting on Saturday so I will show them around.
      Thanks
      Lee

      • Fina we don’t think they are transfers because of the ribbing on the vases but not being able to see them in the flesh so to speak it is hard to tell.
Without any painting they would fetch $80 upwards so the decoration on them will push it up but how much we couldn’t say.
        Cheers

  • Hi

I have a Wembley Ware lustreware platter with a scene of what looks like Ayers Rock (Uluru) on it with Australia written in the paint. The piece has 28E marked on the underside. The mark (2 swans holding a shield – black and yellow) on the base looks to be transfered over a different (fired) makers mark. The platter is oval shaped and 25.5cm long by cm wide.

Anyone seen one of these before, I do not know the artist or any other details about the item, any help appreciated.

    Thanks
    Steve

    • Hi lookers – the above plate is the sandwich plate with the finger lips at each end.
It has a stunning picture of Ayres Rock.
      Anyone interested please respond.
      Thanks Lee

  • Good afternoon
I have a Wembley ware vase Dhufish 28cm and thinking of selling
It- have had a look at E bay and they definitely vary in price (100 to 399!!!)
What would be a reasonable price to expect.?

    Thanking you

    Marylyn

    • Hi Marylyn – it would depend on how and where you are going to sell it.
You must be aware that it depends on the colour (bright and unblemished)
condition (no chips cracks or crazing).
If on ebay maybe a start price of $150 and see where it goes – but in saying that you
would have to be prepared to sell if it only received one bid.
The bidding just depends on who wants one at the time and how many bidders
      are trying for it.
You could always try an antique shop but they are not going to pay more than
trade price as they then have to put a mark up on it.
Best wishes and let us know how you get on.

  • Hi Guys….just became aware that there are collectors, not being one myself. I have a Wembley Ware ‘Australian Native’ Olympics 1956 black jug or mug in pristine condition. It was only used as an ornament and has no rub marks, chips or damage of any type. Is there a market for this item and could you assist me with an asking price. Many thanks in anticipation.

    • Hi Cliff – great mug you have – if you look on ebay there are a couple already on.
They go anywhere from $200 upwards.
Really the market dictates the price. It depends on who wants one and how much
      they are willing to pay.
Good luck and let us know how you fare.

  • Hi Guys I have a Wembly ware vase that was given to my mum 58 years ago, Im trying to sell it for her but am having a bit of difficulty finding the exact same pattern, have found 2 or 3 with nearly the same, can anyone help me please.. i dont seem to be able to post a pic here but

    • Hi Julie – I have since found out that it is the grey vase with an emu on one side and a lubra on the other side – both in black.
It is hard to put a price on an item without seeing it but I would suggest that you go to ebay (completed listings) none of these vases were exactly the same – it depends on where you are and who wanted a vase like this and how you are going to sell it.
A dealer won’t give you much so the best option would be ebay or an add in the paper – price would range from about $150 to $300
best of luck and let us know how you get on.
Someone else may like to comment.
      Lee

      • Julie, as Lee has said, really the market has to guide what something is worth. Hopefully you will get a good price and your mum will be happy with it. Good Luck

        • Thankyu both so much for that, i will try ebay, will go for a start of 200 and see how it goes… funny isnt it the items that dont do anything for me are always the most valuable, mum told me to sell it on gumtree and see if I could “get a few bucks for it ” .. and who knows in the end thats all it may be worth… but always start high I say… all the best
          Julie

  • Hi, I have a Wembley gilded gold horse ashtray, the horse is lying down the and bottom is purple. I was wondering what a price estimate would be?

    Thanks in advance!

    • Hi C, it is so difficult to give estimates as to somethings worth , the best guide is to look at completed listings on ebay. Cheers
